Thanks, Pn Michelle!

For those of you who don’t know (outdated), Pn. Michelle will be leaving us due to school logistic reasons and not because we are the monkeys we are (I hope); for those of you who do know, it doesn’t make any difference, so you can continue mourning.

Umm, even though Pn Michelle was only with us for 1 year, I believe we have collected enough sweet memories to last us quite some time. I remember when she first stepped into our school, everyone was remarking how young and pretty she was (if I’m not mistaken, some of her students called her Michelle Jie, meaning Kak Michelle =P). Then we found out her real age, and our eyes were like saucers. “(Gasp) She can’t be that old!!!”

On behalf of the CF, I would like to thank Pn Michelle for the love and support she has given us this whole year, and for tolerating us ‘giddy goats’! =P I do remember the day when we did sharing at the chalet place, and Pn Michelle closed with a prayer for all of us. I felt that prayer quite meaningful, kinda like it was straight from her heart for us.

We wish Pn Michelle the greatest time of her life in her teaching career regardless where she is posted, and we’ll constantly keep her in our prayers.

God bless Pn. Michelle.

The reason for the season

Jesus is Better than Santa

Santa lives at the North Pole.

JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh

JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year

JESUS is an ever present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies

JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited

JESUS stands at your door and knocks.. and then enters your heart.

You have to stand in line to see Santa

JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap

JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is

"Hi little boy or girl, What's your name?"

JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name,

He knows our address too.

He knows our history and future and

He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly

JESUS has a heart full of love.

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO

JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says "You better not cry"

JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you."

Santa's little helpers make toys

JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts,

repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but

JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree

JESUS became our gift and died on the tree.

It's obvious there is really no comparison.

We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about.

We need to put Christ back in Christmas.

Jesus is still the reason for the season.

M erry Christmas everybody.

He's The Reason For Christmas

His arrival was eagerly anticipated, but not just by children.
He came on Christmas Day, but not down the chimney.
He worked in a wood shop, but not making toys.
He had a beard, but it was not white.
He had some helpers, but they were not elves.
He did a miracle, but not on 34th Street.
He rode into town, but not in a sleigh.
He carried a lot of weight, but He was not heavy.
He hung on a tree, but not as an ornament.
He disappeared into the clouds, but not to the North Pole.
His return is eagerly anticipated, but not predictable.
He is Jesus.

The Holy Alphabet

Although things are not perfect,
Because of trial or pain,
Continue in thanksgiving
Don't even think to blame.
Even when the times are hard,
Fierce winds are bound to blow,
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know.
Imagine life without His love,
Joy would cease to be,
Keep thanking Him for all the things
Love imparts thee to see.
Move out of ' Camp Complaining ',
No weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power
Praise can do alone.
Quit worrying about the future,
Redeem the time at hand,
Start every day with prayer
To 'thank' is God's command.
Until we see Him coming,
Victorious in the sky,
We'll run the race with gratitude,
Xalting God most high.
Yes, there'll be good times and yes some will be bad, but...
Zion waits in glory... where none are ever sad!

Let's Label

Some Christians play a lot of indoor games. Among their favourites is one we might call “Let’s Label”.

Here are some ground rules for starting. Find someone who is different. He or she may look different or sound different or think different. It works real well if the person holds to different opinions and/or reacts in a different way than the “acceptable manner”, which differs from your religious group. This game is especially effective if someone has a mark on his or her past record that your group considers worth discussing, even if it is over and done with, fully forgiven, and none of your business (which is true over 95 % of the time)

Here is how you play Let’s Label. It involves at least 6 steps.

1st step: Find something you don’t like about the person. That’s not hard to do since most people are much more demanding of others than of themselves.

2nd step: Examine the externals. You have to do this since there is no way to examine the ‘internals’.

3rd step: Form negative and critical opinions.

4th step: Jump to several inaccurate conclusions. This follows naturally, because there is always an inability to know all the facts.

5th step: Mentally stick a label on the person in question. That saves time...keeps you from having to verify all the details.

6th step: Freely share all findings and identifying labels with others...so everyone can “pray more diligently”.

Actually, there is another name for the game. It doesn’t sound nearly as nice or inviting, but it is the term Jesus used in His mountain message (Sermon On The Mount): judging

Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. It is written:
" 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord,
'every knee will bow before me;
every tongue will confess to God.' "

So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way.

Romans 14:4, 10-13

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

Matthew 7:3-5

Conquering the Habit

1st: Examine yourself before being tempted to inspect others
Focus on your own areas of weakness and error. For starters, look at your own impatience, laziness, pride, intolerance, greed, lust, ingratitude, anger, careless tongue, indifference, gluttony, pessimism and worry, just to name only a few. Self-examination does wonders when we are tempted to find fault.

2nd: Confess your faults before confronting another
I cannot explain why, but there is something therapeutic about admitting one’s own weakness prior to facing someone you need to confront. It brings humility to the surface, sending pride to their pit...and humble, gentle confronters are the best confronters.

3rd: Try to understand the other person’s struggle
That will make you gentle rather than harsh and condemning. Want a helpful tip? Start at home. If you can resolve the log-and-speck tension there, you are qualified to do so elsewhere.

4th: Remember, the goal is restoration, not probation
We are to relieve a person’s burden, not add to it.

Sherlock Holmes & Dr Watson

Sherlock Holmes and his trusted companion Dr Watson went on a camping trip. Out in the open, they set up their tent and went to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes woke up Dr. Watson.

“Watson, look up and tell me what you see.”

Watson replied, “I see millions of stars.”

“What does that tell you?”

Watson ponders for a minute and says, “Astronomically speaking, it tells me that there are million of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically speaking, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo. Chronologically speaking, it is approximately a quarter past three. Theologically speaking, God is all-powerful and we are insignificantly small. What does that tell you?”

Sherlock Holmes stares at his friend and said, “Watson, you idiot, it tells me someone has stolen our tent.”

To Be A Sign Post In Daily Encounters

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger.

“God, how could you do this to me!” he cried. Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. “How did you know I was here?” asked the weary man of his rescuers. “We saw your smoke signal,” they replied. It is easy to get discouraged when things are going bad. But we shouldn’t lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering. Remember, next time your little hut is burning to the ground- it just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of God. For all the negative things we have to say to ourselves, God has a positive answer for it:

You say: It’s impossible
God says: All things are possible (Luke 18:27)

You say: I’m too tired
God says: I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30)

You say: Nobody really loves me
God says: I love you (John 3: 16 & John 13:34)

You say: I can’t go on
God says: My grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9 & Psalms 91:15)

You say: I can’t figure things out
God says: I will direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6)

You say: I’m not able
God says: I am able (2 Corinthians 9:8)

You say: It’s not worth it
God says: It will be worth it (Romans 8:28)

You say: I can’t forgive myself
God says: I forgive you (1 John 1:9 & Romans 8:1)

You say: I can’t manage
God says: I will supply all your needs (Philipians 4:19)

You say: I’m afraid
God says: I have not given you a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7)

You say: I’m always worried and frustrated
God says: Cast all your cares on Me (1 Peter 5:7)

You say: I don’t have enough faith
God says: I’ve given everyone a measure of faith (Romans 12:3)

You say: I’m not smart enough
God says: I give you wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30)

You say: I feel alone
God says: I will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5)
